Our Philosophy
A Home Away From Home
A note from Maria Teresa I had the option to open my Early Education Center in a commercial building or a church basement. However, I wanted a home away from home and decided to take a much more difficult road to retrofit a single-family house because I wanted children to feel that they were coming to a welcoming loving home.
It was a challenging process with all the County Building requirements and took much longer than expected, even the kitchen license was a challenge because it had to be commercial and the process was long and no different than for a restaurant, but it was worth it!
We have a welcoming home where children feel loved and safe with a big backyard and a kitchen. Best of all, we don’t have to go to a neighborhood park because we have a fenced big back yard. Since we planned for a commercial kitchen on site, we don’t have to cater breakfast and lunches and we can control and choose all healthy ingredients for all our home-cooked meals. Which fits perfectly with our Health-Mind/Healthy Body Philosophy.
Healthy Mind/Healthy Body Philosophy
All the teachers and assistants are specially trained in our Healthy-mind/Healthy-body philosophy and our unique curriculum with Spanish immersion that all children participate in, including infants.
Because we are an enrichment center, we have different projects throughout the year like monthly art appreciation (study a particular artist and their painting for one month), monthly sports camps like mini-soccer, basketball, baseball, hockey, golf, etc. In addition, we have music lessons, yoga classes, and dramatic play. We also have children plant a vegetable garden and we incorporate nutrition in some of the lessons plans
Nutrition is top Priority
We provide home-made breakfast, lunch and a pm snack with fresh ingredients cooked in our commercial kitchen on site including plenty of fruits and vegetables (from our garden during the summer). Some children eat from the menu as young as six months depending on the parents and the physician.
Our teachers are experts on how to prepare the meals by blending, chopping, or cutting into small pieces. Some of our more popular items on the menu are quinoa soup prepared like it is prepared in Latin America, Chicken and rice with fresh vegetables (using different recopies from all over Latin America), spaghetti and meatballs, and hearty chicken soup with vegetables. All the meals are home made from scratch. Although having a commercial kitchen was an expensive and difficult process, we believe this was the best investment for the children to acquire healthy eating habits at an early age that will stay for them as they grow-up and become adults

A few letters and notes
Maria Teresa’s came highly recommended from a friend, and for good reason. The staff is excellent, caring, and made our son feel right at home. He was always excited to go to “school.” Five stars!
Martin and Laura Bayr
When we brought our son to Maria Teresa’s Babies, we were all quite nervous. Connor had been in a nanny-share until he was just over a year, and going to a daycare setting was going to be a very new experience.
